May 23, 2008 National Beach Safety Week Open House - Huntington Beach Marine Safety Division Open House at Lifeguard Headquarters is coordinated with the United States Lifesaving Association. The event showcases beach safety displays, brochures, coloring books, and educational videos. Children can climb aboard a Lifeguard Rescue Truck and Honda Rescue Watercraft for photo opportunities. National Beach Safety Week Open House is located at Vincent G. Moorhouse Lifeguard Headquarters, 103 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach. Time: May 23-26, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

May 23, 2008 Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
