January 1, 2005 The Huntington Beach Longboard Crew Surfing Club 20th Annual HB Pier Paddle Race. Meets at the Huntington Beach Pier and enjoys a morning gathering. January 1, 2005 Saturday Car Cruisers known as the Donuts Derelicts is a group of car collectors that meet at Adams Avenue Donuts parking lot to share Hot Rods, Street Cars, Woodies, Imports and a variety of restored vehicles at Adams and Magnolia Ave. The Saturday Sunrise Car Show is a loosely organized club of car owners who have been meeting for over 20 years to share the love of cars. The public is invited. Often children are allowed to sit in a hot rod or classic car (with the owner's permission) to turn the steering wheel and enjoy the look and feel of a unique vehicle. Parking is available in the Ace parking lot or Adams Avenue Donut Shop with overflow parking extending to Drug Emporium lot across Adams. January 1, 2005 Snowflakes light up the Huntington Beach Pier and Main Streetthrough New Year's Day. Approximately 84 artificial snowflakes strewn with twinkling lights adorn light downtown Huntington Beach. They are a delight to see. There are 48 on the pier and 36 stretching along Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Orange Avenue. Traditionally placed along Main Street with corporate sponsorship plaques attached to them, funding cuts have changed the procedure this year.
