The Huntington Beach Art Center is presenting a group exhibition featuring the work of artists from the United Kingdom. Over thirty-five artworks from installation to painting to sculpture to works on paper are part of the exhibition. The seven artists represented in the multimedia exhibition all live and work in the United States, some ‘just visiting’, as they maintain studios in the UK. The artists are: Jane Callister, DavidFrench, Vicky Hanrahan, Max Presneill, Gordon Senior, Graham Stewart, and Eleanor Wood.

Jane Callister works in a variety of other media to both expand the
boundaries of, and the context for, her painting practice. Callister enjoys
exploring and expanding the boundaries in both a literal and philosophical
sense. Her work exhibits the traits of someone who's spent much time at this
process. The results are amazing.
Max Presneill, an L.A.-based artist, is all about Los Angeles. His
statements include reference to advertising and modern society with oblique
references to the "public domain" seen in his paintings and works.
Gordon Senior focuses on animals and birds, mountains and clouds, among
other things. His work is spatial and based on the out-of-doors primarily.
Graham Stewart has enjoyed the sea and sky and explored them in his works
since 1993 with the beaches and cliffs overlooking the Celtic Sea his
primary point of focus.
Eleanor Wood's works on paper have an emphasis on the horizontal as referring to the appearance of writing, ancient scripts, and manuscript.
Vicky Hanrahan, a painter and sculptor who
utilized paper in wall sculptures comprised of pieces that were cut, stained
and taped to form shapes, brings an interesting approach and statement to
this exhibit.
