Exhibition: Plein Air Art Exhibit through March 20, 2014.
Curator: Professor Darrell Ebert. Exhibit features outstanding works in oils and other media featuring the great outdoors. Plein air colonies in California popped up in nearby Laguna Beach and Carmel by the Sea in the early 1900s. The artists paint outdoors with changing light conditions and objects in motion such as people, animals, changing shadows and moving oceans. It is a challenging form of art to paint, but the artworks are one of the most purchased types of artworks reflecting local beauty or distant lands.
