Surf City Days September 14-15, 2013. Combination of the annual City Surfing Contest (open to residents,) annual Green Expo sponsored by the City of HB and Chamber of Commerce, and a re-worked Surf City Days sponsored by the Huntington Beach Downtown Business Improvement District (HBDBID), the event includes street closure on Main Street similar to Surf City Nights, plus beach competitions in Stand Up Paddle (SUP), volleyball and sandcastle building, in a sports oriented beach day, plus eco-conscious themes integrated. Actor Ed Begley, Jr., a longtime electric car driver and champion of ecology causes, is being hosted at a breakfast at the Shorebreak Hotel on Saturday.
Check out Surf City Days and The Green Expo this weekend, featuring Ed Begley, Jr! Downtown is the place to be this weekend with exciting surf and green-themed events. Surf City Days will occur on September 14 and 15, with the “locals” theme, featuring an annual city surf contest, a standup paddleboard surf race, live entertainment, a safety fair, an art and vendor fair and an “Old Skool” skate event, all right in the heart of downtown, and is free to the public. For more information on this true hometown surf-themed event, please visit www.hbdowntown.com. The Annual Green Expo returns on Saturday, September 14, with over 50 vendors exhibiting at Pier Plaza from 10 AM to 3 PM, including a variety of demonstrations, live music, a free bike valet, and raffle prizes. Catch what certainly will prove to be an interesting speech from actor/director/filmmaker and environmental guru Ed Begley, Jr. and the Harvest to Home Panel at the Shorebreak Hotel from 7:30-10:30 AM. Enjoying the vendors and demonstrations at Pier Plaza is free, and tickets to the Shorebreak Hotel event are just $39.
