Karine Pouliquen, from UCCE Master Gardeners, will give us a lively presentation
about the
importance of bees, what kind of bees live in our area, the fun of bee-keeping,
and so much more!

Stick around as we are visited by the Orange County Astronomers who will help us
explore nearby
planets and star systems light years away.

Come and enjoy traditional folk music in our restful setting as Southern
California Dulcimer Heritage

Cool Summer Nights Shipley Nature Center again invites all nature lovers to Thursday evenings during July and August from 4 pm to 8 pm. Short talks on native plants, raptors and critters along with the astronomers will be returning featured evenings. Enjoy a stroll in the habitats to observe the evening activities of local wildlife.

her experiences and knowledge of
these wonderful birds. Some
you may have seen at Shipley.
• July 18, 6-7 pm The Butterflies of California – Join Tracy Drake, Manager and Naturalist of the Madrona Marsh Preserve, for an evening of exploring the lives of Butterflies. This talk and walk will include tips about identification and information on butterflies which are commonly seen locally. Don’t miss this event!
• July 25, 4-8 pm Nature Center is Open – Enjoy an evening in the fresh air.
• August 1, 6-7 pm Lizards and Snakes and Bugs – Oh My! - Everyone’s favorite critter guy “George” returns by popular demand with his favorite creepy, crawly friends.
• August 8, 4-8 pm Ride or Hike to Shipley Night – Help Shipley Stay Green by riding your bike, skateboard, scooter or by walking to the Nature Center. Kids- Come and participate in the Planet Water Golf Tournament and learn about alternative ways to get around this world of ours.
• August 15, 8:30-9:30 pm Explore the Skies above Shipley – The Orange County Astronomers help explore nearby planets and star systems light years away! Evening hours extended to allow for this not to be missed event. From 6-8 pm The Southern California Dulcimer Heritage group jams in the amphitheater.
• August 22, 6-7 pm Surfrider Ocean Friendly Gardens – Greg Goran demonstrates the value of Ocean Friendly Gardens in helping to keep runoff pollution from the Pacific Ocean.
• August 29, 6-7 pm Fun with Succulents – Following on the heels of last summer's presentation with Joann Moore which was a whopping success, 2013 promises to be even more succulent.
