REI offers a variety of courses open to the public throughout the year. These classes and events are focused on outdoors and activities such as bicycling, hiking, camping, and sports.

Fundamentals of GPS Navigation Class - 2 hours

Learn thhe basics of GPS navigation-- how to pinpoint your location, mark waypoints, plot courses, and create routes.

Using online maps and transferring route and waypoint information to the GPS, an instructor discusses features to consider when choosing a receiver and introduces students to fun and practical applications of GPS in outdoor activities. At the end of the session, you can try your hand, experiencing the great outdoors with a GPS. If you own a GPS unit, bring it to the class. Some demo GPS units will also be available at this in-store class.

Learn the fundamentals of a GPS device--how to use map and GPS in tandem to pinpoint location. How to use map & GPS in tandem to navigate to new locations.
