Closed on Sundays and Mondays, Banning is especially convenient for south Huntington Beach residents. Operating during daylight hours, several days per week the library stays open till 9 p.m. (Tuesdays and Wednesdays.) One of four branches of a five location system, the main library is Central Library in Central Park (7111 Talbert Ave.), and the other branches include Main Street, Helen Murphy, and Oak View.
While parking
at the library, you need to grab
a pass inside and put it in your
car window for carefree parking.
Once inside and relaxed, enjoy
the facilities or storytime
sessions offered for youth and
toddlers. In addition to
stories, there's homework help,
computers with internet access,
copy machine, etc.
As you enter the library you'll
notice that the facility is not
particularly large, It's about
the size of a single story
house, and it looks very much
like the homes in the
surrounding neighborhoods.
Though small, the library is
quite efficient, serving the
nearby community effectively.
The most popular and best asset
of this branch is the services
for parents and children.
Central Library, though
recognized for its superb
Children's Wing, takes 10 to 15
minutes by car to get to from
Banning.
Summer Reading Program goes for 8 weeks and allows youth to sign up and participate in reading books. It is held in addition to the story times. In the winter there's also a reading program.
