March 2 Play - The Cripple of Inishmaan, written by award-winning playwright Martin McDonagh, focuses on the lives of the residents of Inishmaan, a remote Irish island. Set in 1934, the audience follows Billy, a deformed cripple who lost his parents, allegedly to drowning. Fearful of leaving, yet stuck in a mundane existence, Billy makes his way to Hollywood with hopes of fame and fortune after a movie director comes to the neighboring island for filming. The deformed man does not succeed in becoming a Hollywood celebrity, and returns to the familiarity of Inishmaan, depressed. Back on the island, he must reconcile the differences in his dream and what awaits him at home. Directed by Tom Amen and performed by students of Golden West College.
