August 4 , 2010 Adventure Playground - Calling all kids ages 5 to 12. You are invited to build a raft on a small pond, navigate a rope bridge, build forts and go down a mud slide. Bring a plastic bag with a change of shoes and clothes. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Location: 7111 Talbert Ave., enter from Youth Shelter path and look for water tower with sign. Cost: $3. August 4, 2008 Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to sunset.
