June 9, 2009 Reuben Martinez: How I Came to be a Reader. Reuben Martinez received much press after his barbershop in Santa Ana became the breeding ground for intellectualism as books were and discussion encouraged. The barber became a bookseller, and advocate for literacy. Presented by the City of Huntington Beach under the auspices of the Centennial Committee and Human Relations Task Force, the event and a series of nine lectures are designed to examine diversity through a variety of "eyes".
