February 25, 2009 Mush! Bring the family to meet a real Iditarod sled dog at the Bella Terra Mall outdoor amphitheater 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25. Huntington Beach Reads One Book brings this year’s book, “the kids from nowhere”, to life with a furry visitor from Adventure Quest Institute, Inc. Made famous by the annual Iditarod race and the historic race for medicine by the sled dog Balto, sled dogs have an important place in the history of arctic survival. Adventure Quest will provide a tail-wagging one-hour program with a live working sled dog and hands on equipment displays. Adventure Quest instructor Robert Stradley’s dog team trains for the annual Iditarod race, logging over 1,000 miles in the cold at trail elevations of up to 8,000 feet. The sled dog demonstration will be held in the outdoor plaza near the movie theaters at Bella Terra Mall, 7777 Edinger Avenue (corner of Beach Boulevard and Edinger Avenue ), Huntington Beach .
