Red tailed hawks, barn owls, kestrels and the great horned owl will be on display at this unique event that allows children and adults to get up close and personal with birds that have been adopted and tenderly cared for, and nursed back into nature whenever possible. October 4, 2008 Oktoberfest Adults Only Night at Old World Village. German bands play both traditional and rock for dancing and partying. German foods and pretzel snacks are sold, plus a variety of German and assorted beers on tap. Mixed cocktails and liqueurs sold by the shot in vials by make this event a bit more grown-up than the Sunday Family Day Oktoberfest events. Unlike the more traditional Oktoberfests in Southern California, HB Fest takes on a Mardi Gras flair come Friday and Saturday night. Cover: $15. October 4, 2008 Tour the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. From 9 to 10:30 a.m., docents of Amigos de Bolsa Chica organization provide free guided tours. Park at the south lot of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, across the street from the main entrance to Bolsa Chica State Beach where tours begin on the walkbridge every 15 minutes. Exploring five areas of interest, each presentation includes history, birds, endangered species, ecology and restoration.
