April 17, 2008 Youth in Government Day. Huntington Beach Youth Board's 24th Annual Youth In Government Day involves 170 high school students invited to participate in city government on one special day. City hall hosts the political leaders of the future as students from four local high schools learn about the City Administrator, get an overview of City Hall functions then take on a staff-intern session. A mock City Council meeting will then be held with City administrators and staff. This event is not open to the public, though you may see students at City Hall this day.

Winner of the American College Theatre Festival, this drama by James Leonard, Jr. is the story of a disturbed young man and a disenchanted preacher in a tiny southern Indiana town during the great depression era. April 17, 2008 Wetlands viewing - Birders, nature lovers and the curious are invited to drop by the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, one of the West Coast's significant flyways for migrating birds. Bring binoculars to enjoy even closer views of these soaring creatures. Location: Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint and Warner on the east side of the highway. Enjoy 300 acres, plus a 1.5 mile loop trail. No pets or bikes permitted on the trails. Open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
