May 20, 2006  Duck-A-Thon  - Duckathon is the annual event fundraiser for the Huntington Beach Health Care (Community Clinic) Centers. Now in its 14th year, the event includes purchase of little, yellow rubber ducks that are launced off the Huntington Beach Pier in a public race ($10/duck), or corporate race ($100/duck). The two-day event includes food booths, games for kids, ducks on display and tons of fun. Location: Huntington Beach Pier, Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street. Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: Free admission.

It will be held at Huntington Beach near Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street in Huntington Beach. It is open to (age as of 1/1/06) mens 18 and up; juniors 15 to 17 years; boys 13 to 14 years old; menehuene 12 and under; longboard all ages; masters 24 to 34 years; seniors 35 to 44; super seniors 45 and up; girls 14 and under; womens all ages.  Tour -  Take a tour of the Shipley Nature Center. Trained docents provide renovation information, answer questions, and lead tours. You are free to wander the trails, view renovation progress, and spot birds, turtles and other wildlife. Note that the gates are closed for inclement weather, and the Nature Center may be closed for major holiday weekends and the fifth Saturday in some months.
