May 6, 2005 Play - The Crucible by Arthur Miller
(Death of a Salesman). Although the events
of the play are based on the witchcraft trials that took place in Salem,
Massachusetts in 1692, Miller was liberal in his fictionalization of those
events. The
witchcraft trials grew out of moral system of the Puritans, which
promoted interference in others' affairs as well as a repressive code of
conduct that frowned on any diversion from norms of behavior.
The play is presented by Huntington Beach
Playhouse at Huntington Beach Library and Cultural Center Theater, 7111
Talbert Avenue, Huntington Beach, California. It runs through May 15, 2005.

Huntington Beach Art Center - Enjoy an evening of complimentary
wine and hors d'oeuvres as you Meet the Artists at the Huntington
Beach Art Center on Friday, May 6, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. As a preview of the
Art Center's Fifth Annual Art Auction, the celebration includes an
opportunity to meet the artists who have contributed to the auction. Those
participating include local, regional, and nationally-known artists working
in a variety of media. Bidding begins that evening and continues until
Friday, May 13, when the auction party comes alive with silent and live
auctions, fabulous foods, wines, and entertainment. If art isn't of
interest, just come for the party! The annual fundraiser provides support to
