December 7, 2005 Bikes to Baja Fundraiser - Do you have an old bike? The Huntington Beach Longboard Club is accepting donations of old (or new) bikes for children in Mexico. This popular event held in memory of famed surfer Blackie August culminates first in a Huntington Beach Surfing Museum Concert (TBD) and then a trip to Baja Mexico where the refurbished are given to children without bicycles. “Scoping the Future.” Daniel Weintraub, the public affairs columnist
for the Sacramento Bee is keynote luncheon speaker. Weintraub has been
covering California politics and public policy for 22 years, including the
last 18 in Sacramento. He was a Capitol correspondent for the Los Angeles
Times for eight years and Capitol Bureau Chief for the Orange County
Register for five years before assuming his position with the Sacramento
Bee.
