December 18, 2004 Saturday Car Cruisers known as the Donuts Derelicts is a group of car collectors that meet at Adams Avenue Donuts parking lot to share Hot Rods, Street Cars, Woodies, Imports and a variety of restored vehicles at Adams and Magnolia Ave. The Saturday Sunrise Car Show is a loosely organized club of car owners who have been meeting for over 20 years to share the love of cars. The public is invited. Often children are allowed to sit in a hot rod or classic car (with the owner's permission) to turn the steering wheel and enjoy the look and feel of a unique vehicle. Parking is available in the Ace parking lot or Adams Avenue Donut Shop with overflow parking extending to Drug Emporium lot across Adams. Be mindful of the neighborhood and nearby residents sleeping at this early hour. Time 6 a.m., over by approx. 8:30 a.m. No phone number available. Cost: Free admission.
December 18, 2004 Shipley Nature Center Open - Trained docents provide renovation information, answer questions, and lead tours. You are free to wander the trails, view renovation progress, and spot birds and turtles and other wildlife. Note that the gates are closed for inclement weather, and the Nature Center may be closed for major holiday weekends and the fifth Saturday in some months. Location: Huntington Central Park, Central Park Drive off Edwards Street near Lake Huntington. Follow the yellow line on paved trail from parking lot near Alice's Breakfast in the Park. December 18, 2004 Roller Blading Fun Roll - Join the group of roller bladers who meet near the Huntington Beach Pier for a fun roller blade 16-mile round trip at an easy going pace (all levels and ages, plus bicycles welcome) from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach. December 18, 2004 Cruise of Lights Boat Tour "Starlight Symphony" departs at 5:30pm, 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30.p.m. The Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Committee presents Starlight Symphony, the themed 42nd annual narrated boat tour through the waterways of Huntington Harbour. December 18, 2004 A Peter White Christmas with Rick Braun from BBJazz Concerts - Peter White is an English born guitarist who has played and recorded music with Johnny Rivers, Bernie Leadon of the Eagles, Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles, Tori Amos and Janis Ian. His latest CD "Confidential", features names jazz aficionados recognize, Chris Botti, Christopher Cross, Mindi Abair, Brian Culbertson and band mates Michael Paulo and David Sparkman. Playing with White is Rick Braun, a trumpeter who's toured and played with REO Speedwagon, Sade, Rickie Lee Jones, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Glenn Frey, Natalie Cole, Tom Petty, Crowded House, Phoebe Snow and War. His latest CD is called "Sessions, Volume 1." Price: Optional dinner at 5 p.m. is $25, General admission to the concert only is $50 and VIP Gold with dinner is $100/person. December 18, 2004 Snowflakes light up the Huntington Beach Pier and Main Street through New Year's Day. Approximately 84 artificial snowflakes strewn with twinkling lights adorn light downtown Huntington Beach. They are a delight to see. There are 48 on the pier and 36 stretching along Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Orange Avenue. Traditionally placed along Main Street with corporate sponsorship plaques attached to them, funding cuts have changed the procedure this year.
